Find Clark County Arrest Records and Criminal Records

Clark County arrest records cover the booking and custody information generated when a person is taken into custody by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the Henderson Police Department, the North Las Vegas Police Department, or another local agency operating in southern Nevada. Most people search for Clark County arrest records through the Clark County Detention Center in-custody search, which tracks current jail bookings. Older arrests, criminal histories, and full case files use separate systems. A Clark County arrest records search succeeds when the user matches the search to the right agency and the right stage of the case. Sealed adult criminal records and juvenile arrest records will not appear in public-facing searches.

How to Find Clark County Arrest Records

Clark County arrest records are not held in a single online database. A person currently in jail appears in the Clark County Detention Center in-custody search. A person already released sits in the court case file, the originating agency's report system, or the Nevada criminal history repository depending on what is needed. Federal arrests are separate again and sit with the U.S. Marshals or the federal Bureau of Prisons.

The Clark County Detention Center in-custody search at redrock.clarkcountynv.gov/ccdcincustody/incustodysearch.aspx is the main starting point for a recent Clark County arrest. The form heading reads Inmate Information Search and the page instructs users to enter only one input field. The accepted inputs are inmate name, inmate ID, or Justice Court case number. Name searches require at least two letters of the last name.

Arrest Record vs Criminal Court Record

An arrest record and a criminal court record are not the same document. An arrest record covers what happened on the street and at booking. It includes the arresting agency, the booking number, the booking date and time, the listed charges at the time of arrest, and the initial custody status. A criminal court record covers what the court did after the case was filed. It includes the formal charges from the prosecutor, the case number, the docket entries, the plea, the disposition, and the sentence.

The two records can look different even for the same person and same incident. A police agency may book a person on suspicion of one charge; the District Attorney may file a different charge or no charge after review. A Justice Court preliminary hearing may bind some charges to District Court and dismiss others. The case file in court is the controlling record for what the legal system did. The arrest record is the controlling record for what the agency did at booking.

To pull the criminal court side of a Clark County arrest, use the Eighth Judicial District Court Smart Search at clarkcountycourts.us/Portal/Home/Dashboard/29. Select Adult Criminal in the case-type filter for felony-level cases. For misdemeanor or traffic-tied arrests, use the Justice or Municipal Court named on the charging paperwork. The Clark County court records page walks through every Smart Search field in depth.

Charges vs Convictions in Clark County

A charge is what a person is accused of. A conviction is a court finding or guilty plea. The two are not the same and should not be reported as the same. Many Clark County arrests do not produce convictions. Charges may be reduced, dropped, dismissed, or not filed at all. A clean way to read a case is to look at both ends: the charging document and the final judgment of conviction or order of dismissal.

A booking screen at CCDC shows the agency's listed charges at intake. Those values can shift as the District Attorney reviews the case. The Clark County District Attorney decides what to file in court and at what level. The Clark County District Attorney's Office handles prosecution for state-law felonies and misdemeanors in District and Justice Courts. The Clark County Public Defender handles indigent defense.

Sealing Clark County Criminal Records

Nevada generally uses record sealing rather than expungement for adult criminal cases. Sealing is governed by NRS Chapter 179. Eligibility depends on the offense, the outcome of the case, the completion of any sentence, the statutory waiting period, and whether there are pending charges. Some offenses are not eligible for sealing.

The image below shows the Nevada criminal procedure and sealing statute, NRS Chapter 179, which controls Clark County sealing petitions.

A sealing petition is filed in the court that heard the case. The petitioner usually obtains criminal history information, serves required agencies, and seeks a court order. Once granted, agencies seal the record and public portals should not display it. Sealing does not destroy the record; it restricts public access.

Criminal history repository records are governed by NRS Chapter 179A. The official criminal history is held at the state level and differs from a court docket or a police report. Fingerprint-based requests follow the state repository's process. Note: a sealed Clark County criminal record can still be accessed by certain authorized parties under sealing law.

Juvenile Arrest Records in Clark County

Juvenile arrest records are heavily restricted under Nevada law. NRS Chapter 62H limits public access to juvenile court records and provides for sealing. Public portals such as the Eighth Judicial District Court Smart Search expose Juvenile as a case-type filter, but results may return no record even when a case exists. A no-result response on a juvenile search is normal and expected.

Child-welfare investigations and dependency proceedings are restricted under NRS Chapter 432B. The image below shows that statute, which controls the confidentiality of Clark County child-welfare records.

Parents, guardians, and counsel can access juvenile records under specific rules. Public users cannot. Juvenile records may be eligible for sealing once the person reaches adulthood and meets the statutory conditions.

Clark County Booking Photos and Arrest Blotters

Booking photos and arrest blotters in Clark County are managed by the booking agency, not by the court. LVMPD's Records and Fingerprint Bureau handles police reports, background checks, and fingerprint cards. The bureau is the official source for the LVMPD arrest report behind a Clark County booking. Cities with their own police departments, including Henderson, North Las Vegas, Boulder City, and Mesquite, handle records requests through their own police records units.

Mugshots are public unless a court order restricts use. Most aggregator websites that publish mugshots are not official sources. The official booking record sits with the agency and the court. A formal arrest record request goes to the booking agency through its records process.

CCDC vs Nevada DOC vs Federal Custody

Clark County arrest records cover local custody. Nevada Department of Corrections and federal custody are separate. A person arrested in Clark County may later move into state or federal custody after sentencing, transfer, or revocation. Each system has its own search.

For state prison custody, use the Nevada Department of Corrections offender search at ofdsearch.doc.nv.gov. The image below shows the state offender search used for Clark County defendants now in NDOC custody.

The Nevada DOC search covers state prison offenders. It does not show every Clark County jail booking and does not show federal cases. For federal custody, use the Bureau of Prisons inmate locator. For pending custody status and release notifications, the released inmates page covers VINELink Nevada and related tools.

Clark County Specialty and Treatment Courts

Some Clark County defendants do not go through standard criminal sentencing. The Eighth Judicial District Court runs specialty courts for eligible cases tied to substance use, mental health, veteran status, and reentry. These problem-solving dockets use judicial monitoring, treatment, status hearings, and graduation criteria instead of conventional sentencing.
